When I meet with my colleagues, I am proud to say that I am the Superintendent of the Levittown School District. It is a pleasure working with the members of the Board of Education, who are both collaborative and supportive. I want to especially thank our parents and residents for welcoming me into your community and trusting me to provide your children with the quality education you expect, while still remaining fiscally responsible to the community.

Every day, I see the dedication of our staff in action, as they ensure all of our students are provided with the skills needed for personal success. In a highly competitive environment, our students are bringing pride to our community through their academic, athletic and artistic achievements. They are also learning that we are all citizens of a global society and that it is important to help those in need. Countless community service projects are taking place at all grade levels, and our students are generously giving of their time and talents to raise awareness and help those less fortunate.

While I am confident we have the ingredients for continued success, now more than ever we must work together to protect the foundation of our school district as we face the difficult challenges that lie ahead. We are diligently working to develop a proposed 2012-2013 budget that complies with the state-imposed 2% property tax cap. We are also in the process of developing a new evaluation system of our teachers and principals and realigning our curriculum to comply with the introduction next year of the NYS Common Core Learning Standards. We will be providing you with regular updates and I encourage you to stay informed as our plans for next year unfold.

Lastly, whether or not you currently have children attending our schools, I invite you to enjoy and support our students by attending the numerous concerts, plays, athletic events and academic programs that are offered throughout the year. Our students have been the beneficiaries of a strong school-parent-community partnership that supports education. I am confident that together we can make that partnership even stronger.
