Chamber Choir is for students who love to sing. Students will perform at various school events as well as participate in school concerts.

Cooking Club

The cooking club is intended to provide insight for those that have experience and the novice that wants to learn more about cooking. Students will increase their knowledge of foods from various cultures while maintaining proper sanitation and safety procedures. The Cooking Club's mission is to raise money for a charitable organization of the students' choice while increasing awareness of those less fortunate. In addition, students learn how to read recipes, as well as order and budget for future food endeavors.

DECA is a business marketing, management, and entrepreneurship organization that strives to educate its members regarding general marketing, entrepreneurship, and general business strategies and decisions. DECA aims to prepare members for future careers in general marketing and business.

Drama Club

The Drama Club is responsible for casting, rehearsing, and producing a high school version of a musical play each year. The drama club concludes with an annual production night. In addition, The drama club puts on several short, non-musical dramas and comedies throughout the year.

Emmy Night

After seniors vote on several categories (nicest to know, most likely to succeed, etc.), the results are announced and student skits/commercials will be shown at an event called Emmy Night. This is primarily a senior class club, however, students with video/editing skills are encourage to get involved.

Gay-Straight Alliance promotes understanding and tolerance among all students.

Humanitarian Club

The Humanitarian Club aims at helping people at both the local and the global levels. Last year, the club collected water bottles to raise funds to provide clean drinking water for the underprivileged in third world countries.

Cafeteria West - Meetings held every other Monday
The Key Club is a student- run organization that focuses on community service. The Key Club hosts and helps out at many events, including CD Dances, CD Sports Night, E.S.L. Babysitting Night, Walks, and fundraisers.

Marching Band

Band Room- Meetings held every Monday night at 5:30
The DAHS Marching Band practices week in and week out to perform at several marching band competitions each Sunday. The band also goes on a band trip over the summer, and performs and marches at Homecoming.

The 9th Grade Mathletes is open to all freshmen who wish to compete in math competitions and practice.

Senior Mathletes

Room 104- See Mr. Tomeo at the beginning of the year for competition dates
Mathletes is open to all sophomores, juniors, and seniors who wish to compete in math competitions against other schools. Competitions are held once a month, where students answer math questions and challenge students from surrounding schools. Whichever school gets the most questions correct wins their "league" at the end of the year, and may compete at the state tournament held annually upstate. High scorers are also recognized and sent to the Mathletes all-star team.

Model Congress

Room 242- Meetings TBA
The Model Congress teaches students how to hold an official debate. Each week, a new resolution will be discussed, and 4 students will be responsible for arguing different sides of the debate. At the end of each meeting, a vote is held to determine the best debater for each week.

National Honor Society

Room 118 - Meetings held every other Wednesday
The National Honor Society is a prestigious club with its membership limited to less than 3% of the student body. Candidates are screened on a wide array of characteristics, ranging from academic achievement, leadership abilities, and community involvement. Members are required to perform 10 hours of community service each quarter, as well as holding an overall G.P.A. of 90 throughout the entire year.

The newspaper club is responsible for researching, writing, editing, and publishing a newspaper three times a year. Members will need to write an article for each edition of the School paper. Any student is allowed to write for the paper.

Physical Fitness (Weight Room)

The Weight Room is open weekdays from 2:45-4:00 p.m.
Goals of the club: weight training can play an important role in the development of self-development, self-confidence, and body satisfaction by increasing strength, building and toning muscles, and increasing muscular endurance. It can also help maintain lean body mass (important for individuals attempting weight loss), decrease the risk of osteoporosis, develop coordination and balance, and prevent injuries resulting from weak muscles.

Physics Olympiad

Room 225
Students in the Physics Olympics Club prepare for competition in the Long Island Physics Olympics. Teams from across Long Island gather at SUNY Farmingdale once a year to vie for "Physics Supremacy."

Peer Leaders

Room 129
The Peer Leaders are responsible for mentoring and guiding the incoming freshmen class. The peer leaders are chosen by a committee made up of teachers, and are responsible for meeting with their designated freshmen several times throughout the school year. Peer Leaders organize the Blood Drive and assist with the Senior Citizen's Prom.

Robotics Club

Robotics Room
Robotics focuses on the F.I.R.S.T competition. Students are given a game and instructions for tasks that the finished robot is supposed to be able to perform. Working together as a team, sometimes for long hours, students construct the robot, which was 120 lbs. and 5 ft. tall last year. In addition, there are mandatory Saturday practices/building times. This is a full-year highly dedicated club that plans to do well in the upcoming years.

S.A.D.D. (Students Against Destructive Decisions)

Room 210 - Meetings held every other Monday
Students Against Destructive Decisions raise awareness about the dangers and negative impact of substance abuse and drinking and driving. SADD provides students with opportunities to make good decisions, to be involved with community service, to develop leadership skills, and to reinforce the power of positive peer pressure.

Science Honor Society

Room 213- Meetings held on the first Thursday of every month
Science National Honor Society is a nationally recognized honor society. Students accepted into the Science National Honor Society will be inducted at the end of their sophomore year or later. The society is responsible for recycling duty, planning Darwin Day, as well as other science based events throughout the year.

Science Olympiad

Room 222- Everyday beginning in November
The Science Olympiad is made up of teams with 15 students on each, competing in 20 different events. Students work hard to prepare for the regional competition held at Kellenberg Memorial High School. There are academic events, encompassing many areas of science, and building events, where students construct different machines or objects to complete a goal. Students compete with more than 60 other local schools, and the top 7 scoring teams move onto the state competition.

School Store

School Store during lunch periods
The school store is open during lunch periods and sells supplies, candy, and DAHS clothing. Students need to sign up in the first week of school to be eligible to work for the school store. School Store workers are also responsible for working at Freshmen Orientation and Back to School Night.

Student Council

Room 219 - Meetings held every other Thursday
The Student Council is responsible for organizing, preparing, and running major events at the school, including Pep Rally, Homecoming, Spirit Week, and Division Idol. All students are welcome at Student Council meetings and may vote on topics including Spirit Night Dress Days, Homecoming Theme, and end-of-year gift. The Student Council is also responsible for running class elections. A Class Officer from each grade must attend all Student Council Meetings.
