Dear Parents,
One of our primary goals at Lee Road School is to create a caring school community where our students, faculty and parents share common expectations, language and structures. Once again, the Get-A-Voice Project will play a major role in our efforts to build a strong sense of community among all stakeholders. The project provides a framework to address name calling and the power of language through youth empowerment, natural curriculum connections in the classroom and school-wide, and service learning efforts that foster leadership and positive action.
Entering our sixth year of implementation, we endeavor to expand the use of the Get-A-Voice Project through the collective efforts of the Lee Road Get-A-Voice Committee, school-wide initiatives, teacher participation and parent support. Without a doubt, your participation at home is vital to our continued success. You can help by encouraging your child(ren) to actively participate in the program. Furthermore, the Get-A-Voice ideals are consistent with our Lee Road School Behavior Guidelines; therefore, as you discuss the guidelines with your child, you may also wish to discuss the Get-A-Voice Project. Using the program’s language when pertinent would also be a terrific way to reinforce the program’s values at home.
A variety of activities have been scheduled this year to promote the program highlighted by our Get-A-Voice Kick-Off Assembly. After the program, you will have the opportunity to have your entire family take “the pledge.” We also hope to continue the Get-A-Voice Student Club. Finally, parents are also encouraged to become frequent visitors of the Get-Voice link on our Lee Road School website.
We look forward to making this valued program a continued success!
Sincerely,
Anthony Goss
Principal
