A very talented group of students from Salk Middle School recently created posters that will be entered into The Long-Island Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Annual Poster Contest!

On Friday, February 17, 2012 several students from Mr. Viola's Honors Earth Science Class at Jonas E. Salk in Levittown surprised him with a birthday cake.

The 8th grade girls basketball team from Salk middle school has started their season with a record of 3 and 0.

Sixth grade students at Salk Middle School in Levittown, recently participated in a field trip to visit residents at the Highfield Garden Senior Care Center in Great Neck, New York.

The 7th grade Boys Basketball Team finished their season with a 5 - 6 record. The Boys continued to improve as the season went on defeating some very tough teams and losing some very close games.

The 8th grade boys basketball team has improved their record to 3 and 2 with recent victories over Plainedge and Seaford.

The Levittown School District is proud to announce that Erin Perotta, an eighth-grade student at Jonas E. Salk Middle School, is a winner in the Mid Atlantic Oireachtas, a regional Irish step dancing competition.

Twenty-one students from Salk Middle School were acknowledged during their lunch periods with R.I.S.E. Awards for November. Mr. Zampaglione, principal and Mr. Mulligan, assistant principal, presented the awards along with some Salk staff members.

The 7th grade girl's soccer team at Salk Middle School had an outstanding 2011 season both on and off the field. Through the first six games the team was undefeated, and ended up finishing the season with an impressive 7-1-1 record. Caitlin Elia, Kate Baumstein, and Emily Rubbino lead the offense scoring seven goals each during the season. Sarah Andreski totaled an impressive 34 saves at goalie.

Junior Leaders at Levittown Jonas E. Salk Middle School participated in a drug and alcohol community awareness project at the Cherrywood Shopping Plaza in Wantagh. The members of this leadership organization created posters to promote the school's Red Ribbon campaign highlighting the dangers of destructive decisions.

Fourteen Salk Middle School students were honored during their lunch periods with R.I.S.E.

Salk Middle School held ESL Family Night, a district-wide event in which the parents and families of Levittown's ESL students were invited to meet with the ESL teachers from Salk, MacArthur High School, and Northside, Summit Lane and Abbey Lane Elementary Schools.

Twelve members of the Jonas E. Salk Middle School 7th grade band were selected to participate in the 9th Annual Hofstra University Honors Band Festival.

Jonas E. Salk Middle School Library promoted national "Teen Read Week" (Oct. 16-23) with a display about books that have been turned into movies. Students compared and contrasted their favorite book-to-movie adaptations.

The 8 th grade boy's soccer team from Salk middle school defeated Berner 1 to 0 to improve their record to 4-1-1.

Salk's 8th grade football team kicked off their season on Thursday with a 26 to 19 win over a strong Merrick Avenue team.
